Breast Lift
Breast lifting (mastopexy) is the reshaping of sagging, hollowed breasts due to the effect of gravity and giving them a youthful appearance. In the operation, the breast tissue is lifted and excess skin is removed. If the breast tissue is insufficient, augmentation with implants can be added to this procedure.
Why do breasts sag?
Changes in breast shape and size can occur with factors such as age, pregnancy history, gravity, rapid weight gain and loss and breastfeeding.
Before Surgery
Detailed information about the patient, breast examination, breast measurements, 2D and 3D photography are applied.
Surgery
It is applied under general anesthesia. Average operation time is 1-2 hours. The operation plan is determined according to the degree of sagging. It can be performed with a scar only around the nipple, with a scar around the nipple and additionally a scar towards the vertical inframammary groove or additionally with a horizontal scar in the inframammary fold. Drain is placed in the breast, dressing and special bra are applied.
After Surgery
Patients are usually hospitalized for 1 night. Postoperative eating starts in a short time. Your drains are removed on the 1st or 2nd day. Antibiotics and painkillers are prescribed. Your dressings are left open after the 3rd or 4th day and only special bras are worn. You can take a shower 48 hours after the drain extraction. Pain, swelling and bruising may occur in the breasts, these complaints will subside within 7-10 days. You can get back to work after one week, but you should stay away from heavy activities for 4-6 weeks.
Side Effects
There may be early and late side effects related to general anesthesia and surgery. Enlarged scar tissue (scars), tissue loss in the nipple, delayed healing problems are the most common ones. Special treatments for scars that may occur will be planned by your doctor.
Result
The results are long lasting unless there is excessive weight loss and pregnancy. If weight loss continues and there is a pregnancy plan, you should definitely tell your doctor. The surgery does not increase the risk of breast cancer. Breast scans can be performed regularly after surgery. There is no negative effect on breastfeeding. It has high satisfaction rates, increases self-confidence and assertiveness in social environments.
