Sweating treatment with Botulinum Toxin

The administration of toxin is effective in both wrinkle treatment and sweating control. It is usually administered in the hands, feet and armpit for sweating. The toxin locally inhibits the release of the substance that causes sweating and stops sweating.

Human body may sweat through the whole skin. Therefore, to stop sweating on an area composing up to 1% of the body surface, such as hands, feet and armpitsit will not cause any harmful effects.

Before Procedure 
Collection of detailed patient anamnesis, patient examination, determination of the individual’s expectations, giving information about the procedure are mandatory. No tests are required. Individual’s pregnancy history should be investigated. The over-sweating areas are determined and drawings are made. 

Procedure 
Armpit administrations do not require anesthesia; however, as there are too much nerves in the hands and feet, local anesthesia or topical anesthetics may be used. The procedure is performed by microinjection method in the respective areas based on the individual’s needs. The procedure takes approximately 10-15 minutes.

After Procedure 
The sites of application may be washed half an hour after the process. Redness, ecchymosis or swelling may occur after the administration of toxin. One may get back to work right away. The effect becomes evident within 2 days, and is completely revealed within 7-10 days. The duration of effect is approximately 6-9 months. The procedure may be performed in any season and at any age.
